Welcome to SwissSign AG Liechtenstein, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SwissSign AG. By establishing the company in Liechtenstein SwissSign, as the leading provider of trusted digital certificates from Switzerland, has laid the foundation for a future certificate offering that meets the new European Regulation for EU and EEA member states concerning electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions (eIDAS) EU No. 910/2014. In addition to the new provisions for electronic signatures, the Regulation also covers services relating to electronic seals and time stamps, the delivery of electronic registered messages and website certificates.
This Regulation stipulates that certificate service providers that have announced the start of operations and been accepted as a nationally recognised certificate service provider prior to 1 July 2016 are automatically added to the so-called “Trusted List” of trusted eIDAS trust service providers.
Notification of operations as a nationally recognised certification authority was issued in good time in the first half of 2016 after the required national audit for a qualified certificate provider in accordance with the Liechtenstein Electronic Signature Act was successfully completed.
The audit results of SwissSign AG Liechtenstein document that the legal framework conditions and issuance conditions for qualified certificates comply with the Liechtenstein Electronic Signature Act from both an organisational and a technical perspective. The positive audit findings are currently being cross checked by the supervisory body deployed by the Liechtenstein government.
Following the successful completion of this countercheck, the company will be admitted as a nationally accredited certification authority for qualified certificates from the EEA member state of Liechtenstein. This will also see it added to the eIDAS “Trusted List” of all trusted certificate providers in accordance with the eIDAS Regulation. The trusted service providers listed here have until 1 July 2017 to demonstrate their compliance with the new ETSI standards, thus enabling them to continue operating as trusted service providers under eIDAS. The necessary activities for the assessment have also been set up and are under way with a view to ensuring time fulfilment of the requirements.
In parallel to this, Adobe and SwissSign, together with other companies, have established the Cloud Signature Consortium with the objective of establishing a standard for eIDAS-compliant signatures. Work here began in June.
SwissSign is successfully working on the eIDAS front line and will soon be a certificate provider offering eIDAS-compliant certificates.
We look forward to hearing from you. Contact us by sending an e-mail with the keyword “eIDAS” to email@example.com.
